The Markets
And the survey said…
In late 2016, Natixis Global surveyed 500 institutional decision makers representing corporate pension plans, public pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, foundations, and endowments. Survey participants said market volatility, geopolitics, and interest rates were their top risk concerns for 2017. I would say that I would agree with these topics. I am keeping an eye on all of these items. The asset allocation currently in the practice has a bias towards stock over bonds because of inflation and interest rate risk. This decision made a big difference in the first quarter of this year and as always I will be monitoring trends and factual information for you.
So far, U.S. stock markets haven’t proven to be very volatile, but geopolitics caused some disruption last week. It was a tough week for stocks, but investors’ flight to safety caused Treasury bonds to rally.
I hope that you had a good Easter, enjoyed your chocolate and maybe even had an old time Easter egg hunt with the grandchildren!
